Find the words and the confidence to write the story that is yours alone.
Why have you chosen to write a memoir? Are you looking for closure, to preserve a family legacy, deepen your understanding of your soul’s journey? Do you want to better understand your past, to clear the pathway for your future?
Whatever motivates you, the techniques and skills you'll learn in the Memoir Writing Workshop will help you find your voice and the clarity to tell your story.
This workshop is for those starting their first memoir or looking for guidance and inspiration on a current project.
A place of reflection and rejuvenation where Rudyard Kipling, Anthony Trollope and Hans Christian Andersen found inspiration.
What do we mean by "your Voice"? Simply put, your voice is your inimitable way of expressing yourself in words. Often, though, there is a disconnect between how you speak and what ends up on the page, so that the emotional resonance of the spoken word gets lost. How do you close that gap? How do you distinguish between verbal patter and your true voice? What is it you want to say?
Using sensory exercises and "prompts," and through guided reflection this writing workshop will help you:
By the end of the workshop you will have produced a series of vignettes which can form the basis of a longer work.
